This speech disorder affects various areas of our communication skills and occurs in very different forms and degrees of severity. People with aphasia suffer from being able to express words, sentences, thoughts, and feelings only with difficulty or not at all. People with aphasia also have difficulties understanding speech, reading, writing, and arithmetic. Despite these limitations, however, they are not mentally disabled. With our regional self-help groups, we offer those affected and their families the opportunity to find new courage in life, to think positively, to not give up, to participate in life, and to inspire other affected people in the group. The best way to get to know us is to visit one of our self-help groups. If you are interested in our self-help groups, you can find an overview of the regional groups on our ALB website under the link: Self-help groups.
